Now that we’re living in a modified world, it’s time that we incorporate the way we live our lives into the celebration of our favorite holidays. So without further pomp or ado, here’s some of our favorite mod-centric recipes for holiday fun!

Modified Cookies

What You’ll Need:

– A package of pre-made sugar cookie dough from your local grocery store (Pillsbury and Nestle Toll House both offer great options).

– Cookie cutters of your choice (circles, ovals, or egg shapes work best for faces).

– Icing and food coloring (or pre-tinted store bought icing in tubes).

– Food coloring markers (optional).

Roll out your dough following the instructions on the package and preheat your oven accordingly. Next, use your cookie cutters to cut out your shapes and bake in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Once your cookies cool, we can get to the fun part: the decorating.

Ice your cookies in white or flesh colored icing (or leave them plain), and once the icing sets draw on your basic facial features with a piping bag, food coloring marker, or premade icing tube. Next, use your colored icing to pipe on piercings and fun colored hair. If you’re using food coloring markers, you can even draw on some cute tattoos. Now you’ve got some cookies that will make all of your modified holiday guests smile!

Quick Tip: if you prefer to stick with traditional holiday cookie shapes and want to jazz them up, it’s also great fun to make pierced santas, hipster snowmen, or tattooed gingerbread people.

To make the rice krispie treats:

melt your butter or substitute in a large sauce pan over low heat, then add your marshmallows and stir the mixture until they’re completely melted. Next, stir in half of your cereal, followed by the other half, making sure that each piece is coated, and remove mixture from heat.

Allow your treat mix to cool until it’s able to be handled, and working quickly with wet or lightly greased hands, shape into your favorite body jewelry shapes. (You might need t wet your hands repeatedly to the sticky stuff easy to handle.) Then allow your shaped treats to cool and harden up and place them on wax paper.

Melt your chocolate candy melts on the stovetop or in the microwave according to package directions and drizzle over jewelry shapes to coat them. If you’re using sugar gems, add them wherever you like while the chocolate is still wet. Cut away any excess chocolate from your edges once completely set, and voila! Fun piercing-themed treats.
