Fashion Disasters: Celebrities Who Missed the Mark at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival

Julia Garner looked like an octogenarian lounge singer in Cannes

Is it possible that Julia Garner and her stylist didn’t know there was a change to the dress code and she had planned to wear a sheer dress, so they rushed to the boutique in the hotel lobby and found this number? No, we think this was the intentional look, unfortunately. The gown, a Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford design, wasn’t helped by the jarring additions of black heels and vampy lips. We’ve seen Garner do much better, so we expect this is just one misstep in her fashion ‘folio.

Emma Stone’s lily-pad neckwear flopped

This was an example of weird fashion on the Cannes red carpet happening to good people. It almost looked as if Emma Stone decided to play around in the wardrobe department and found a piece from a nun’s costume, or perhaps a giant baby bib. Regardless, the collar on her Louis Vuitton gown felt distracting on an otherwise beautiful look.

Heidi Klum had multiple misses at the Cannes Film Festival

Heidi Klum was one of the celebrities that ignored the rule banning voluminous trains on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for 2025, wearing two Elie Saab gowns with fabric trailing behind. But the offending didn’t end there. The metallic dress she wore to the “Mission: Impossible” premiere was one of the most unflattering looks we’ve ever seen on the supermodel, perhaps because the mirrored effect distorted the light as it hit her famous curves. Unfortunately, Klum also made it onto our list of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2025 Met Gala.

Victoria Silvstedt’s Cannes look was nothing short of confusing

Swedish TV personality Victoria Silvstedt wins the prize for most confusing dress at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Her Nabil Younes gown had so much going on, it was hard to take in. But the biggest question of all: What was the point of that piece of fabric extending from the crotch?

Farhana Bodi got caught in a mess of pink

Fans of Farhana Bodi, from Netflix’s “Dubai Bling,” know that she can deliver some seriously stunning fashion when she wants to. This wasn’t one of her top moments, however. For starters, the Barbiecore trend feels passé in 2025. Also, there would have been enough drama with the pointy embellishment at the chest — no OTT pink ruffle necessary.

Hayley Atwell’s Cannes couture was out of proportion

Another look that felt unnecessarily OTT was “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” star Hayley Atwell’s red Giambattista Valli number. Having two voluminous skirt poofs felt imbalanced on her lithe frame (in addition to breaking the 2025 rules). Then there was the color. She practically blended into the Cannes red carpet, which explains why we don’t see a lot of the shade at the event. Celebs are there to be seen, after all.

Frédérique Bel broke the Cannes rules in 2025, twice

French actor Frédérique Bel was another celeb who turned her nose up at the Cannes Film Festival dress code by donning revealing looks on multiple occasions. The bizarre gold sequined gown exposed major side boob, while the black dress she rocked to the “Highest 2 Lowest” premiere didn’t leave much to the imagination. And let’s not ignore her unique accessories. We’re all for a little whimsy in fashion, but somehow her French-fry clutch and mini hat missed the mark.
