The Beauty Blunder Lauren Boebert Keeps Repeating

What happens when your makeup distracts from your message

Unsurprisingly, many of the jokes made about Lauren Boebert focus on her cakey makeup looks. In a viral TikTok clip of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Meyers says the congresswoman has slowly transformed into Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice, and the crowd loses it. He even adds, “If you’re trying to make us forget about the time you got kicked out of ‘Beetlejuice The Musical’ for groping your date, turning into one of the characters is a terrible strategy.” Yikes. So, everyone thinks her makeup look is a distraction or diversion, but whether it’s intentional or not, we’ll never know.

As a politician, scrutiny is inevitable. However, women in politics are judged more harshly for their outer appearance than for what they say. And yes, it is unfair, but for Lauren Boebert, we have to wonder if people are trying to help her do her job. After all, it’s very hard to project authority when your makeup look is the only thing grabbing people’s attention. No message is going to get across when you’re looking like you’re wearing a Halloween mask all the time. We can only hope Boebert learns from her outfits that were complete misses and her makeup fails — not just for her sake but also to be taken more seriously as a political figure.
