The Perfect Shoes to Pair with Your Long Jean Shorts This Summer

There’s a trick to picking footwear for jorts

You may have noticed that many of the shoe options for jorts provided by Patrick Kenger involve a vintage, recycled shoe trend of some sort. The reason for this is that we originally saw jorts emerge in the 1960s and ’70s, with each decade following having a specific style of the garment in the mainstream. So, it makes sense that the best shoes for styling jorts are ones that we’ve seen in decades past. However, there are a few more exclusive tips and tricks Kenger provided us with that can be helpful when it comes to styling the denim staple.

“Be aware that long jean shorts can make your leg appear shorter,” he noted exclusively to Glam. “To do some visual trickery of your own, go for shoes that show your ankles and/or have some element of elevation like a platform sole to elongate your leg.” With that in mind, it would probably be wise to avoid boots or high-tops with jorts, and if you’re wearing socks, Kenger advised using either some no-show or ankle socks. Basically, anything that would make your legs appear shorter is off the cards.
