Kidman’s wigged look contrasts her Met Gala chop
While Nicole Kidman has some solid reasons to wear wigs, the award-winning actor’s decision to wear a hair piece at the festival was likely due to the chopped look she sported for the 2025 Met Gala. At the May event, the star wore a custom, strapless Balenciaga gown, ranking among the Met Gala attendees who proved that style only gets better as you age, and sported a short, mostly-slicked-back hairdo with wavy bangs and dark roots. Instead of opting for a wig, celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel confirmed that Kidman had committed to the length.
“This new cut on Nicole was all about tailoring the right proportions,” he said in a press release obtained by Byrdie. “The cascading bang brought a feminine element while keeping a masculine shape around the sides and back of the head.” The short style was in honor of the gala’s “Tailored For You” dress code, which was inspired by the museum’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit. In addition to serving as a great addition to her Met Gala look, Kidman’s new cut made a wig necessary for the long-haired look she sported at Cannes. We don’t fault the star for using faux-hair to experiment with different styles or to accentuate her natural locks, but we do hope her team can get the color-matching correct next time.
