Pastels aren’t just for your wardrobe in summer 2025
Cotton-candy colors will be everywhere this summer, so be ahead of the curve by adding splashes of pastels to your face. Don’t just stop at blush, either. Channel your inner fairy princess with shimmery, sky-blue eyeshadow mixed with baby pink on your lids. This ethereal look isn’t about coloring within the lines, so use your fingers to dab on the shades wherever your heart desires for a pretty watercolor effect.
Butter skin is the new glass skin trend
Glass skin was the hydrating and radiant beauty trend that was big in South Korea years ago and made its way here around 2023. The look was all about achieving smooth, glistening skin that practically reflected like a mirror. However, overly shiny skin is out, and the more achievable butter skin trend is here for summer 2025. While the emphasis is still on getting that pore-less effect, the finish is creamy and silky with a slight hint of sheen. To get this look, you’ll need a blurring primer, such as Lancôme La Base Pro, and a velvet-finish foundation. Stay away from matte products, and use powder sparingly (only where needed).
Skip the liner for cloud-like blurred lips
Dark lip liners have been trending for quite some time now, but you can safely tuck yours away in your makeup drawer. Over-lined lips are dated and out for summer 2025, and instead, you’ll want smooth, heavenly blurred lips that look like you just ate a cherry popsicle. Simply run your ring finger along your lipstick and dab the color over your mouth and along the edges. If you want a stronger color, lip stains are perfect. Say goodbye to any harsh lines and a lip routine that takes longer than five minutes, and spend the time basking in the sun with your updated pout.
Let your lip gloss shine this summer
The Y2K trend of super-shiny lips is back, so treat yourself to a few new tubes once summertime rolls around. If you’re not into the tacky, sticky formulas from decades ago, you’ll be happy to hear that glosses have a sleeker feel these days. A personal favorite of mine is Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, which delivers a gorgeous, luminizing sheen with plenty of pigment. Or, you can try tinted lip oils that contain vitamins to nourish your pout while giving you that just-bitten effect. Whatever product you prefer will do — as long as there’s shine.
Sunburnt blush is a safer way to mimic the real thing
Blonzing, which combines bronzer and blush, made its way around TikTok last year, and it’s here to stay for 2025. We all know that spending too much time tanning is bad for your skin health, so why not fake it with blush and bronzer? Your summer glow is oh-so easy to achieve with just a few products. First, sweep some bronzer around the hollows of your cheeks and up toward your temples. Next, apply blush on top, overlapping the bronzer a bit so that there’s an ombré effect. I love a warm coral shade for the warmer months. Finally, swipe a shimmery highlighter on the high points of your cheeks to bring out your sun-kissed glow.
Barely there eye makeup will beat the heat
Sorry, Taylor Swift, but fierce wings are the outdated eyeliner trend to ditch in 2025. In fact, celebs like Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter have seemingly ditched liners completely and are instead focusing on bringing out their eyes with subtle hints of eyeshadow. Follow their lead this summer by skipping eyeliner and mascara completely for a fresh-faced visage. My suggestion? Add some taupe or peach shadow on your lids and a bit of cream-colored highlighter around the inner corners of your eyes. Finish your face with some bronzer and lip gloss, and your five-minute summer makeup routine has never been easier.
Colorful mascara will make your eyes pop like never before
If you’re a mascara babe, shake up your 2025 summer style with some color on your lashes. Whether it’s bright blue, evergreen, or a shocking dose of unexpected red, reach for anything but black between the months of June and August. For those with blue eyes, yellow mascara will bring out your peepers even more, while crimson will enhance green-eyed beauties. If you have brown pupils, try a lovely eggplant or burgundy shade, and for extra fun, you can mix things up with two different colors. After all, rules don’t apply when it comes to summer makeup!
How I selected the makeup products
When endorsing products as a makeup artist, I always make sure that the company is reputable and uses products that are safe on the skin. While those with allergies should read the label to prevent reactions, well-known brands typically use ingredients that won’t generally trigger outbreaks. Both Lancôme and Fenty Beauty have solidified their status in the cosmetics industry, so I feel confident that makeup wearers will be pleased with the results. I’ve used both brands extensively and have been a fan for years. Furthermore, the Amazon reviews show that users are happy with the products I mentioned, which means you’ll likely be as well. Happy makeup shopping!
