Outfit repeating is a key part of royal style
Though many Millennials are likely reticent to the idea thanks to “Lizzie McGuire,” Catherine, Princess of Wales loves a repeat fashion moment. In addition to taking old looks out for a new spin, she has been known to rework old pieces into her current looks to bring them back on trend. In part, this reflects a commitment to sustainable fashion, but it also keeps the focus on the event and the cause she’s supporting. Even before Kate underwent a stunning style transformation, people went wild for her fashion choices, often buying out the pieces she wears within minutes. By recycling a look or item, Kate can sidestep that drama and keep chic without inciting a distraction.
She’s not the only woman from the royal family to use this approach — Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana were both known to recycle a look, as does Kate’s sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. But while it’s not exactly royal fashion protocol to get swept up in the deluge of trends, it looks like Meghan couldn’t resist a butter yellow moment either, since she recently stepped out looking elegant in a Ralph Lauren suit in the color of the season.
