How Angelina Jolie could have fixed her hair extension fail
Angelina Jolie’s hairstylist obviously had a tough time blending her extensions and natural hair, but that problem could have been solved with some scissors. Sometimes, if clip-ins are a lot longer than the natural hair or a different shape, a trim can help the two look more in sync. “Unfortunately the extensions are too long and should have been layered cut into her real hair to give a blended more seamless result,” fashion/red carpet hair and makeup artist Luna Viola told The List.
The problem may also have stemmed from Jolie’s hairstylist not adding enough extra hair. The actor seemingly only had one strip rather multiple layered pieces, which likely made it harder to blend. More styling could have helped, too. Viola shared that curling Jolie’s locks could have disguised the obvious harsh line between the clip-ins and her natural hair. “That way, when you brush your hair out, it will all flow seamlessly into the same curl,” she said.
The mishap could also have been caused by the extensions slipping down, making them look even longer. Jolie’s natural tresses may have been too thin or soft, which would have resulted in there not being enough grip to hold the weight of the hair pieces. That could have been prevented by Jolie avoiding super moisturizing, softening conditioners before the event, or by applying texturizing or hair spray before the clip-ins were installed. Strategically placed bobby pins could also have helped hold the pieces in place. Though there’s no doubting Jolie — who’s also gorgeous without makeup – still looked stunning, we’re guessing she’ll take a second look in the mirror before stepping out with extensions next time.
