Though Gwen Stefani was well into her platinum-blond years by the time her career took off, she’s given fans a glimpse at her natural hair on social media through vintage snaps. In June 2020, she posted a throwback pic to Instagram celebrating her brother’s birthday, and many were in support of her mousy-brown locks. One user wrote, “I love your natural hair color!” Another asked, “Can you have this hair colour again please.”

Unfortunately, the response hasn’t always been as positive when Stefani tries out a new look. You know what they say; if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. For the season finale of “The Voice” in May 2021, the “Don’t Speak” singer debuted some mocha-brown blunt bangs and a ponytail, while keeping the rest of her roots their iconic platinum. It was certainly a bold choice, and viewers didn’t hold back when it came to voicing their opinions. “What’s up with hair? Not a good look,” one user wrote under a selfie of the new ‘do. Another quipped, “Too harsh, I like the blonde better!”
