Lily-Rose Depp’s Fashion Choices That Missed the Mark

The Vanity Fair Oscar Party is not the time or place for an itty-bitty bandeau top, even if it is Chanel. Sadly, Lily-Rose Depp didn’t get the memo for the 2025 event and showed up in a floral bra paired with a sage-green chiffon maxi skirt. While this look would have been perfectly acceptable for a fun outing in the Hamptons, Depp should have gone more formal for the annual Oscars event. We’re sure Chanel would have rushed over with a fabulous gown had she asked.

Lily-Rose Depp proved that she’s a Chanel girlie when she arrived at the label’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer show in January 2025 wearing a matching skirt and jacket set. While tweed is perfect for achieving the perfect preppy, stealth-wealth look, the cut of Depp’s skirt hit awkwardly at her mid-calf, which shortened the appearance of her legs. This outfit may have been great for someone 60 years old and up, but it unfortunately aged the 25-year-old. A shorter length with platform sandals would have made Depp look way more youthful.

We get that Lily-Rose Depp wanted to remain in character as Ellen in the horror film “Nosferatu” during the film’s London premiere in December 2024. However, she was one celeb who missed the mark on method dressing. The top of her silver caped dress attempted to nail the gothic look but resembled an oversized napkin, while the ruffled hemline had a boho feel. The bright jewels added a dramatic touch to the Chanel Haute Couture ‘fit, but overall, the whole look just wasn’t cohesive.

The Governors Awards aren’t as dressy as the Oscars, but we still expect stars to show up in their best finery. Sadly, Lily-Rose Depp attended the 2024 event in a humdrum dark-gray and white dress that featured a pink rose at the chest. The gown was from Chanel’s 2018 Haute Couture collection, and we love a good high-fashion piece, but the look was just too basic for the red carpet.

Lily-Rose Depp took the “I woke up like this” trend too seriously when she showed up to the “Wolf” premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in what looked like a nightgown and bloomers set. The frilly pink dress was a cute choice, although it looked like sleepwear. But combined with the knee-length matching shorts, Depp looked like she just rolled out of bed and put on a pair of black heels. As one of the leading stars in “Wolf,” she could have put in a bit more effort.
