The Fashion Color We’ll Be Leaving Behind in 2025

Earthy colors are reigning supreme in 2025

Bright and bubbly colors of the past are now making way for more down-to-earth shades, and, in fact, color trendsetter Pantone named Mocha Mousse — a rich, chocolaty shade of brown — as the premier color of 2025. “Browns pair well with a less saturated color palette, so try this as a neutral alternative to black,” Amanda Vargus exclusively tells us. If you’re looking for inspiration for this spring and summer, consider going the Prada route. The fashion house incorporated brown into its 2025 collection in many ways, including with a striped bathing suit featuring brown, blue, and white that could also beautifully double as a bodysuit. A less-expensive option that could be paired with many other items would be a classic brown sweater like the EFAN Women’s Oversized Crewneck Sweatshirt. And when the weather gets chilly again, brown suede jackets will give you that classic ’90s-inspired look for fall.

Some other colors that are trending in 2025 are butter yellow, pastel blue, and burgundy, Vargus tells us. Consider making brown your base color and then adding touches of rich hues to your outfit. For example, if you’re wearing a chocolate-hued sweater, layer a light-blue button-down shirt like the Womens Smocked Cuffed Striped Boyfriend Shirt underneath it, and let the collars and hem pop out. Brown and burgundy are gorgeous pairings for fall, but make sure there’s enough contrast between the two shades so your ‘fit doesn’t look overly monochromatic. The best part about these earthy colors is that they have longevity, so your pieces are sure to be staples for years to come, not a short-lived fad.
