5 Indications Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Might Be on the Verge of Breaking Up

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been spending less time together

Katy Perry has been seriously busy amid swirling rumors about her relationship with Orlando Bloom. On April 14, 2025, Perry was part of a controversial all-women trip to space (though Amanda Nguyen’s Blue Origin story was the only one worth talking about) and launched into her “Lifetimes” tour just a few days later. The long string of shows began in Mexico on April 23, 2025, with plans for Perry to stay on the road consistently through December 2025, touching down in the likes of North America, South America, and Europe. As one can imagine, all that traveling and time apart has already taken its toll on her marriage. “Katy has been very busy working, and they are apart often. That has caused tension,” a source told Us Weekly. “They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore,” they added.

Bloom alluded to schedule struggles on “What Now? with Trevor Noah” in 2024. He admitted, “Sometimes it feels like, ‘How do we do this?’ Because we’ve got these two giant careers and lives and hers is even … it’s like a universe sometimes.” Because of his own work commitments, Bloom isn’t following Perry around the globe on tour and has been focused on his own thriving career. While his fiancée was performing Down Under on June 10, 2025, he promoted his movie “Deep Cover” at New York’s Tribeca Festival. Perry may even have made a cryptic comment about a potential split that night, as Daily Mail reported she told fans on stage, “This song is about a breakup, and this Tim Tam saved me.” She then ate the Australian treat and performed the song “I’m Still Breathing.”

They reportedly never rescheduled their wedding

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are one of our favorite sets of celebs who got engaged on Valentine’s Day (and didn’t make us cringe), but despite him popping the question on the most romantic day of the year in 2019, they still hadn’t made it down the aisle by Valentine’s Day 2025. A source told Us Weekly in June 2025, “[They] never set a date for the wedding or got around to planning anything and Orlando is ‘over it.'”

Notably, they did once have a date, but it was scuppered by the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2024, Perry told “Heart Breakfast,” “COVID happened and now I have a really large credit at a venue I’m going to use. I just can’t tell you more. It was literally like I was going to get married on February 27th of 2020 and then it all happened.” She explained she then fell pregnant with their daughter, which meant they needed to make some changes to their original plan, but confirmed, “We’re going to rework the whole thing.” However, the “Women’s World” singer’s admission they’d chosen a venue and paid for it only makes it stranger that she and Bloom didn’t jump on the chance to tie the knot as soon as restrictions lifted. Though both live busy lives, there’s no denying they have the funds and the connections to pull off a lavish wedding together at short notice if they wanted to.

Katy Perry may have fallen out of love with the idea of marriage

In an interview with Paper published in February 2019, mere days before Katy Perry confirmed her engagement to Orlando Bloom, she shared an interesting take on relationships that suggested she may have fallen out of love with marriage. The star, who was married to comedian and actor Russell Brand from 2008 until 2012, admitted her take on life-long commitment had changed since she walked down the aisle the first time. “I’m very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things 1750282205. I mean, I was married when I was 25. I’m 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, ‘One person for the rest of my life,’ and I’m not so sure that that idea is for me. I’m just such a different person than I was,” she said. Notably, Bloom has also been married before, as he wed model Miranda Kerr in 2010, but they split in 2013. The exes then became a celebrity couple that are total divorce goals.

Although Perry happily accepted Bloom’s proposal and appeared excited about tying the knot again in interviews, if she and the actor are on different pages about marriage, they’re very likely heading for a breakup. “There really is no right or wrong way to commit to someone, but what is important is that both people are on the same page and have the same ideas and goals about what their future looks like,” Anna Williamson, TV host, podcaster and certified relationship expert, told Hitched. “The key is knowing what is important to you as an individual, and what is important to your partner and to you both as a couple,” she added.

Orlando Bloom once admitted being with Katy Perry is ‘challenging’

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have never pretended their relationship is perfect in public, but he made particularly honest remarks in 2023. Speaking to Flaunt, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” actor candidly admitted, “Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity.” He continued, “I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment.” But plenty of fireworks could be both a good and bad thing.

Perry has also been vocal about their rollercoaster romance, including opening up about the reason they initially broke up for a few months in 2017 before reunited the following year. “We weren’t really in it from day one … he was, in a way, because he had just done a huge time of celibacy and he had set intentions and I was fresh out of a relationship and I was just like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I need to go into a swim in a different pond,'” Perry confessed on “Call Her Daddy” in 2024, admitting she had to do a lot of internal work on herself to date Bloom in a healthier way. “I was like, ‘This is boring, I’m moving on’ because I’m so used I was so used to this, like, push-pull,” she said. Perry admitting she got bored during her early days dating Bloom doesn’t bode well amid the split rumors. It suggests she could once again feel the need to chase something she sees as more exciting than her committed relationship.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s different personalities could cause disagreements

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom reportedly have different personality traits that may not always gel. “They’re two very different people. Katy has a wild side, while Orlando is more the quiet type. When she ended her Las Vegas residency in November, she celebrated at a club. Orlando came along, but that probably wouldn’t have been his first choice. He’s more chill,” a source told OK! in 2024, though they confirmed, “Katy and Orlando know when to compromise.”

However, constant compromise may have grown stale for the couple. As Nicole Moore, Celebrity Love Coach and Body Language Expert, exclusively explained while talking us through the red flags in Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz’s now defunct relationship, though opposites may attract, it doesn’t always make for a life-long union. “Couples who have an introvert and extrovert partner can often get into disagreements about going out versus staying in, socializing and attending events, and eventually the big differences in introversion versus extroversion start to really wear a couple down,” she said.
