While it’s possible she hadn’t heard about that specific shooting, it’s unlikely she was unaware of the rising wave of violence or the larger conversation around gun control.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are unseemly photos of him and a dead leopard, an unalived rare antelope, and many more \u2014 all in the name of “sport.” So when Lara stepped out in a peacock-feathered dress, it didn’t scream fashion. It whispered, “Did Eric kill that too?” It also subtly announced that the family’s love for “rescuing animals” has fine print: Only the cute ones get saved. The rest get bullets.<\/p>\n

To sweeten the pitch, she added a polarizing caption: “Be a Trump girl, in a Trump world.” If slapping a $47 price tag on a hat in a struggling economy seemed inappropriate, Lara didn’t get the memo. But plenty of Trump supporters did. One X user\u00a0put it plainly: “I support the cause. BUT $50 for a hat is insane!”<\/p>\n

This faux pas was inexcusable given that this was a nationally televised moment watched by millions around the globe. Lara’s outfit might have been stylish, but it lacked decency and self-awareness.<\/p>\n
