Parker Posey’s unstructured, red jacket swamped her small frame<\/h2>\n

Parker Posey made a confusing choice in 2006 when she wore an oversized jacket to a production of “Suburbia.” The red outerwear featured diagonal, black buttons across her torso and an excess of material around her neck. On her bottom half, she wore a simple and dark pencil skirt with red pumps a couple of shades darker than her jacket.<\/p>\n

Though we appreciated the “Party Girl” star tried something different for a fashion moment, the jacket just wasn’t on point. The lack of structure meant it completely swamped her body and added unflattering bulk to her top half, camouflaging her gorgeous figure. Colorful blazers were a hot trend at the time\u00a0and a bright red version would have captured just as much attention and made the same bold style statement, just in a trendier (and more flattering) way.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

We didn’t know where to look with Parker Posey’s busy “The House of Yes” 1997 premiere outfit. The beauty walked the red carpet in a trendy, black, silk and lace maxi dress\u00a0over a white garment, paired with a long, see-though green, red, and yellow, spot cardigan. She added strings of beaded necklaces and chunky, black shoes. And it was all as confused as it sounds. Almost every garment had a different vibe. The dress was sexy and sultry, but the colorful cardigan and jewelry were more quirky. Though they matched one another, they didn’t work with her other garments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To fit better with Posey’s eccentric vibe, we’d have encouraged her to ditch the dress for something lighter and less serious. A simple, classic white slip would have served as a neutral base to let her multicolored garment shine.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

When Parker Posey attended “Hurlyburly” in 2005, we loved that she went against the grain and infused color and whimsy into her look. She wore an embellished sheer, blue, mesh dress over a mustard, satin slip, with plenty of jewelry. The clashing colors paid off, but weren’t enough to save her outfit.<\/p>\n

The dress was unflattering because of the slanted panel across her middle. It drew attention to her hips rather than her waist and felt too much with the necklaces and beading. The aesthetic was also ruined by her shoe choice. Blue or yellow footwear would have matched the dress while a nude pair would have gone unnoticed, but she wore a strappy, brown caged pair that didn’t work. Not only were her shoes a different vibe, they drew attention away from her already busy style statement.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Parker Posey’s off-shoulder green top tucked into her midi, denim skirt and coupled with simple, brown flats was inoffensive, but didn’t work for the 2011 “Buck” premiere. The ensemble was too casual, especially when other attendees dressed decidedly more formally. Underdressing can be a fashion mistake that’s a complete turn-off, as it\u00a0suggests the person don’t care about the event they’re attending.<\/p>\n

We were also left scratching our heads over why she carried an oversized, multicolored, crochet tote bag while posing for photos. It made her outfit even more casual and would have been more appropriate for a beach day or picnic in the park \u2014 not a movie premiere. To dress up her top and skirt, we’d have recommended leaving the bag at home (or at least out of photos) and swapping flats for court shoes or heeled sandals.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Many of us fell victim to the harem pants that trended in 2013. The slouchy, low crotch aesthetic had a surprise resurgence \u2014 but even notorious fashion risk taker Parker Posey couldn’t pull it off. She put her own stamp on the style at Bette Midler’s Restoration Project Spring Picnic\u00a0in a harem-esque dress, but the oversized, strappy, coral garment with a ruched hem over a mustard vest didn’t work. Not only did it overpower her frame and looked more like a sleeping bag than a chic dress, the color didn’t compliment her skin tone and washed her out.<\/p>\n

She clearly knew statement necklaces were all the rage because she injected her signature boldness via a large yellow and turquoise, XXL bead version.
