Melania Trump was in her modeling heyday in the 1990s, and moved to New York to expand her career in 1996. It’s no surprise that Melania was pursuing global success. Standing tall at 5’11” with a rocking body and that piercing gaze, nothing would stand in her way. But it wasn’t an easy path paved for her. Melania had to work hard and stay focused on her goal.<\/p>\n

Fellow model\u00a0Victoria Silvstedt, who lived with Melania in Paris in 1994 before the latter moved to the United States, told WWD that the now-first lady was a workhorse.\u00a0“At the beginning of your career, you would run to 12 castings a day with your model book, competing with hundreds of girls at each casting,”\u00a0Silvstedt said of her former roommate.\u00a0“We basically would spend the day on the M\u00e9tro, on the subway underground.” Later,\u00a0Silvstedt said:\u00a0“[Melania] would never go out and want to party. She was very determined, very serious in her work.”<\/p>\n

That combination of stunning good looks and work ethic would pay off. One of Melania’s biggest ad campaigns happened in 1999, where she worked on the\u00a0Concord Watch campaign. She worked with photographer\u00a0Peter Arnell, who said of Melania at that time,\u00a0“[Melania] represented serious luxury. She showed up extraordinarily in the photography.
